Today on the RHP/Ren
Costa Rican spring break trip we had to wake up at 5 in the morning to catch a
truck for a two-hour ride to the Pacific Ocean side of the peninsula for our
next half of the trip. When we arrived at the Piro Research Station, we ate
breakfast and then went on an about two-hour hike through the jungle. After the
hike we ate lunch and then had a three-hour break until our next hike to the
ocean. When we arrived at the beach we got to explore around the rocks where
the water hit and where all the tide pools were. At the beach it was the most
magnificent scenery ever. The beautiful ocean view in front of us, the sun
sparklingly off the water, and the palm trees behind us all looked like a
painting. It was surreal. The best part about today was being able to see a ton
of monkeys in the trees of the research center. It was really unique because we
don’t have monkeys in California, besides the zoo, but that doesn’t count. The
monkeys here in the trees at the research center were face to face with us
minding there own business. We got to see a very small snip it of how they live
and what they eat. The most interesting thing that I have learned on this trip
and really stood out to me, was that Costa Rica has very large biodiversity. I have
really enjoyed this entire trip, but my favorite part was probably being able
to hang out with all my friends and hanging out with the people in Dos Brazos
del Tigre and becoming really close with the community. And mom and dad I miss
you guys a lot. Hope you are having fun in Hawaii, and I can’t wait to tell you
guys all about Costa Rica when I get home.
