Early morning beach hike had a pleasant surprise

This morning, a majority of the students woke up at 4:00am to go on a hike through the rain forest and onto the beach with three local researchers that study the sea turtles at Piro Biological Research Center.  We were able to see turtle tracks and even found a nest that had been attacked by predators leaving only egg shells behind. To our surprise, we found a nest with 101 eggs!  Finally we relocated all of the eggs to a place that would be safe from predators until the little turtles hatched!  This was well worth the early wake up!
